What’s this, another Hot Toys improved re-release review? You got it! I missed most of the original Hot Toys Predators run and since my favourite Predator is the original from the Arnold classic, when Hot Toys announced they were re-releasing the classic Predator but updated with some of the new stuff from Predators, I was all in.

Another one of their accessory packed releases! You’ve got the regular face, switch-out mandibles, a semi-clean clean helmet, and the battle damaged helmet seen in the movie. The battle computer on his wrist can be switched out to have two separate designs, the countdown clown and the hologram projector with one of two holograms. A jungle base and a regular nameplate base. The Sideshow exclusive on this was a badass looking Predator skull.

I can’t compare it to the previous original Predator but compared to the other ones I’ve had (SDCC exclusive and so on), the sculpt and body look fantastic. The joints are well covered and quite flexible so you can definitely get him into those action poses that you’ll want. The face looks exactly like I picture Predators to look, the masks are gorgeous. The fabric elements like the netting are fine, I don’t think that’s changed since the SDCC Predator. The dreads seem about the same. The extendable blades are still metal, the laser cannon can target wherever the Predator can face, it’s hard to find a flaw with the construction.

Even though the light-up features are a little more limited than something you’d see on say, Iron Man, they’re perfect for this release. You’ve got the targeting lasers on both of the face masks, and the arm computer having a light-up option, which either illuminates the numbers or the holograms depending on which version of the computer he’s sporting. About the only other light they could’ve included would’ve been in the shoulder gun but I can’t remember if that “lights up” prior to shooting, hmm.

Paint? Well, not much to say here other than another great job from Hot Toys. Tons of weathering work all over the place, a nice mix of colours and definition, and the skin looks slimy where it’s supposed to. Metallics and detail work are solid all around. A fine assortment of colours on the base as well.

5/5. I usually find something or other to critique about Hot Toys figures but I’ve gotta say, when they re-release a figure, they typically go all out and absolutely nail it.
